Get Wood Laminate Under A Door Jamb

Wood laminate is an easy-to-install flooring surface that mimics real wood and locks together with a tongue-and-groove design. Often, quarter-round or shoe molding is installed along the baseboards above the wood laminate to provide a finished look and hide any imperfections in the floor. Quarter-round and shoe molding, however, is not installed around door jambs. To install wood laminate through a doorway and maintain a finished look, you must cut the bottom of the jamb. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Place a piece of scrap flooring on the ground, beside the door jamb.

2. Place the hand saw flat on the scrap flooring and saw through the bottom of the door jamb.

3. Remove the saw when you have reached the back of the door jamb.

4. Pry the cut wood out of the bottom of the door jamb, using a flat-head screwdriver. With the bottom of the door jambs cut, the flooring will easily slide under the door jamb during the installation.
