Build An Under Bed Storage Unit

You have a large storage space right under your bed. All you need to do now is figure out make use of it. You can construct roll-out storage that you can easily access. Follow these steps to get the job done quickly.

Instructions

1. Build a box (open or closed) that is just less than the dimensions of half the length of your bed. Keep the height of the box an inch lower than the bed frame. This way you can slide two of them under the bed, side by side.

2. Make the box from 1-by-6 inch planks with hinges, if you decide to make a lid. Cut according to the under-the-bed measurement specifications.

3. Cut the box joints with a table saw using connecting rabbet joints and a dado blade as necessary.

4. Slide the bottom sections into the groove you made with the dado blade.

5. Put a small amount of glue into the rabbet joints and finish putting the box together.

6. Add small rollers to the underside in order to allow the storage box to roll out from under the bed. Finish with clear varnish or oil.
