Put Up A Wire Closet

Organize your cluttered closet with a wire closet shelving unit.

When it comes time to organize your closet, consider installing a wire shelving unit. Wire shelving is a versatile option for organizing closets. You can store boxes on the shelves and hang clothes off the front of the shelves. There are also many accessories that you can install on the shelving to provide additional storage options such as hanging baskets and bins. Wire shelving is installed on slotted bars that fasten to the wall studs. The slots run the length of the bar so you can change the position of any shelf within the unit. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select a wall in your closet to locate the wire closet unit. Slide a stud finder across the wall to find the wall studs. Mark the location of each stud onto the wall using a pencil.

2. Pull a tape measure across the wall. Measure the width between the studs and select two that measure 32 inches apart and are closest to where you would like to mount the wire closet unit.

3. Hold one slotted bar vertically against the wall at each selected stud location at the desired height. Place a level across the top ends of the bars with the help of a friend. Adjust the heights of the bars until they are level. Mark the mounting holes in the bars onto the wall with a pencil.

4. Remove the level from the bars. Hold the bars against the wall, one at a time, and drive the included screws through the mounting holes in the bars into the wall studs using a screw gun.

5. Pivot and lock shelf supports into the slots in the bars at corresponding heights at each height where you plan to put a shelf. Slide one shelf across each of the supports and lock them into place.
