Tools like scissors can hang on the wall for easy accessibility.
Scrapbooking and crafting are hobbies that can require a wealth of supplies. Between stamps, ribbon, embellishments, paper punches, card stock and the countless other supplies you need on-hand at a moment's notice, staying organized is challenging---but not impossible. By making your storage solutions as creative as the crafts you design, you can keep the craft room organized and clutter-free. Does this Spark an idea?
Repurposing
Some of the best storage solutions for crafting supplies are intended for something else entirely. For example, the small compartments and fold-out design of a fishing tackle box are ideal for storing beads, embellishments and other small supplies that could otherwise be easily lost or misplaced. Recycle old containers that you may have simply thrown out otherwise. Plastic tubs that once held butter or yogurt, for example, may be washed and used for storing small supplies---just be sure to label them.
Think outside the box while shopping, and you will find that accessories for other rooms are just as practical for crafting supplies. A wire fruit basket may be the perfect stamp caddy; ice cube trays can store buttons and small embellishments; and a paper towel dispenser can become a wall-mounted spool for ribbon.
Finding Supplies
You need not only to keep your supplies organized, but to be able to find them again when you need them. Instead of stuffing your supplies away in drawers, cabinets and boxes, utilize different types of storage. Invest in see-through plastic bins that enable you to identify what's inside without rifling through them. Keep your bins stored in a tower with trays that easily slide in and out.
Labeling your bins is just as important to efficient storage. You can accomplish this either with a traditional label that says what is inside or by getting creative. A bin of buttons may have a button attached to the outside, or a bin of markers may have old and empty markers decoratively taped to the lid.
Hanging Supplies
Your crafting supplies don't have to be stored away in bins. You may keep them in sight by hanging them on the walls. Use a variety of hardware to store supplies like scissors, paper punches and rulers. Matching decorative hooks, for example, can hold tools with holes in them, while a pegboard with hooks and pegs can hold everything from coiled cords to caddies filled with paper clips and pushpins. Keep like items grouped together on a single pegboard to minimize your search for supplies.
