Baby Room Storage Ideas

Choose smart storage for your baby's room.

Storage is a key element when you're designing your baby's bedroom. You need space for essentials such as diapers, baby wipes and diaper rash cream. In addition to those must-haves, babies requires more items than you would imagine. Find smart ways to store your baby's clothing, toys, books, blankets and other items. Without proper storage, the room can quickly become a mess. Does this Spark an idea?

Changing Table

All baby's rooms need changing tables where you can easily change diapers, apply cream and dress the baby. Choose a changing table with plenty of drawers and compartments so that you can hide the diaper packages and other items you need on a regular basis. Storing those items out of view will make the room look much less cluttered.

Window Seat

If your baby's room has a window, build or buy a window seat to place beside it. Choose one with a lift-seat to store items inside. You could store seldom-used items in the seat, such as out-of-season clothing, extra blankets or toys the baby can't yet use. As the baby gets older, the window seat can become a toy box and a place for him to sit and play with toys or read books.

Buckets

Choose durable plastic buckets that can fit under the crib for small toys. Look for buckets in a color that matches your baby's room. The buckets are durable enough for the baby to drag them out from under the crib when she wants to play with blocks and other toys. They also make it easy for you to grab a bucket of toys and head over to a friend's house.

Closet

Use the closet in your baby's room to its maximum potential. Because baby clothes are small, you can add additional closet rods so that the clothing isn't so cramped. Look for a closet organizer that helps you add shelves, cubbies and other helpful storage.

Corner Bookshelf

Build or purchase a bookshelf that fits into a corner of the room. This is the type of storage item that can change as the child grows. When she is still a baby, use the shelves for books, as well as dolls, stuffed animals and other larger toys. As she grows and wants to read more, remove the toys and add more books.
