Organize Kitchen Cabinets

If you're showing your house, the less clutter in your cabinets, the better.

Having to rummage through a disorganized, jam-packed cabinet for a specific item can be frustrating and time-wasting. Besides making your work in the kitchen easier, organized kitchen cabinets look more attractive than overcrowded, dirty cabinets, especially if any have glass fronts. No matter how much cabinet space you have, if you organize it the right way, you can put every inch of space to use. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all items from the cabinets. Wipe down the cabinets with the appropriate cleaner and a lint-free cloth.

2. Examine each item for damage. Dispose of items that are broken or containers that don't match. Keep an appropriate number of coffee mugs, cups, jars, containers and silverware, depending on how many people you live with.

3. Donate extra items and appliances you never use, such as popcorn poppers, bread machines and steamers.

4. Store holiday molds and cookie cutters with holiday decorations.

5. Recycle any plastic shopping bags with the exception of 10. Throw away spices more than three years old.

6. Put pots, cutting boards, potholders and herbs and spices near the stove. Store dishes, silverware and glasses near the sink or dishwasher. Place glasses upside down to prevent dust accumulation and pests inhabiting them.

7. Put plastic wrap, wax paper, plastic bags and foil near the refrigerator. Store large utensils by the stove.

8. Store container lids in sealable bags. Place the bag of lids near the containers.

9. Place cleaning supplies in plastic buckets with handles, then put them underneath the sink.
