One way to keep clothes worn for everyday chores separate from the rest is to build a closet just for these clothes. An inexpensive way to do this is to use cheap plywood and 2-by-4s. This will make for an easy assembly and installation.
Instructions
Build a Box
1. Stand all the 2-by-4s on end on a work table. Form a rectangle by placing the 27-inch pieces between the 26-inch pieces.
2. Install 3-inch drywall screws through the 26-inch pieces into the ends of the 27-inch pieces. This will result in a 26-by-30-inch rectangle.
3. Place the two 72-inch pieces of plywood on a worktable. Measure down from one end and make a mark at 18 inches. Place the framing square on the marks and draw a line across the 26-inch width of the plywood. This is the location of the top shelf of the closet.
4. Stand one of the 72-inch pieces of plywood on its long edge and place the 2-by-4 rectangle on one end. Secure it to the plywood with the 1½-inch drywall screws.
5. Apply glue to the 26-inch edge of the 26-by-30-inch plywood. Place it at the other end of the 72-inch piece of plywood and secure it with the 1½-inch drywall screws.
6. Place the remaining 72-inch piece of plywood against the pieces you just installed and secure it to them with the 1½-inch drywall screws. Next, apply glue to the 26-inch edge of another piece of plywood and place it on the line drawn in Step 3 and secure it to 72-inch piece with the 1½-inch drywall screws.
7. Place the remaining 26-by-30-inch piece of plywood on top of the 2-by-4s and secure it to them with the 1½-inch drywall screws.
Back and Door
8. Place one of the 30-by-72-inch pieces of plywood on one of the open sides of the closet and secure it to the closet with the 1½-inch drywall screws
9. Install the 72-inch piano hinge along the edge of the remaining 30-by-72-inch plywood with the screws provided. Place this on other open side of the closet so that the hinge lies on the side of the closet.
10. Secure it to the side of the closet with the screws provided. Stand the closet up and install the closet rod according to the manufacturer's instructions.
