Clean Wood Doors

Regular maintenance of your wood doors will keep them looking new.

Cleaning your wood doors will give whoever enters your home a nice first impression. Doors get dusty, soiled and stained over time, especially around the door handles, and regular maintenance will remove the residue and keep them looking new. Different types of finishes on wood doors require different care, but it is relatively simple to keep all your doors looking neat and stain-free. You do not have to buy expensive commercial products made for cleaning wood doors; most households already have the necessary supplies. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Varnished Wood Doors

1. Dust all the surfaces of your door with a clean, soft rag or a feather duster. Make sure to get the top and bottom of the door frames as well.

2. Clean your varnished wood door with a soft rag dipped in oil soap. Wipe in the direction of the wood grain for the best results.

3. Buff the entire door and frame with another clean cloth to remove any excess residue.

4. Clean the doorknobs and handles with an all-purpose household cleaner and a soft rag, or use a brass cleaner if they are made of brass.

5. Use glass or window cleaner to clean any glass inserts.

6. Finish the job by wiping the door handle and knobs with an antibacterial product that sanitizes. Doorknobs gather germs from dirty hands.

Painted Wood Door

8. Use an all-purpose household cleaner diluted according to the instructions and a wet sponge to wipe down all the painted surfaces of the wood door.
