Not only is it difficult to find particular pieces of clothing when your closet is disorganized, but the jumbled mess also could ruin your clothes. Plus, you end up holding on to clothes that are no longer wearable or are outdated. Here are a few strategies to organize your clothes. Does this Spark an idea?
Filter Your Clothing
Keep your clothes organized by making sure you only have clothes that fit you well and are in style and good condition. You should go through your wardrobe at least once each year and either toss out irreparable garments or donate unwanted clothes to charity. Keep only the clothes you love and that fit and flatter your figure.
Categorize
Once you have figured out what you want to keep, you have to keep them sorted. Separate your clothes into categories such as skirts, shirts, jeans and dresses. You can further subdivide each category by arranging the clothes by color.
Store Out-of-Season Clothes
Leave only the clothes that are in season in your closet or clothes chest. Clothes that are out of season should be stored carefully.
Keep the Closet Neat
Do not use wire hangers. They are flimsy and tend to tangle. Invest in solid wood or sturdy plastic hangers for the clothes you need to hang. Also, attach hooks or racks or other shelving to keep accessories such as scarves, belts and hats in order. You also should figure out a way to store your shoes. Always use a shoe rack or shoe boxes.
