If your crafting room seems to have spiraled out of control, stop procrastinating and get your craft supplies organized. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Crafty people share something in common--they have a lot of stuff! There is no disputing the fact that crafts require craft supplies. Depending on the number and type of crafts you enjoy, you may have a small stash of supplies or a large collection of various necessities. Either way, you need to keep your craft supplies organized. If your crafting room seems to have spiraled out of control, stop procrastinating and get your craft supplies organized.

2. Get rid of what you don't need before you do anything else. This is a challenge for many who enjoy crafts because to a crafter, almost anything has potential to be useful in a future project. The problem with this way of thinking is that it can lead to an accumulation of a lot of clutter. Go through your supplies and get rid of the clutter.

3. Sort the remainder of your stash. There are several ways to go about this and the best approach is whatever approach seems to make the most sense to you. If you have a collection of crafting materials that are unique to a particular craft, you may find that it makes the most sense to group the materials into one pile. Doing so will ensure that everything you need is in one spot. However, if you partake in several crafts that share similar supplies, it may make the most sense to sort materials into like piles--ribbon in one pile, beads in another. Decide what makes sense for you and get your supplies sorted.

4. Locate storage containers. Before you head to the store to load up on plastic storage bins to organize your crafting materials, go through the house and check to see what containers you might already have on hand. Also consider using other various containers such as mason jars, plastic yogurt containers and other similar items. Once you've taken stock of the containers you have on hand, determine if there is a need for more storage containers and if so, make a quick trip to the local discount store.

5. Arrange your storage containers in a line on the floor with the lids off. Use a label maker or just notepaper and tape to label each box according to its intended use.

6. Move through all of the sorted piles of crafting supplies, placing the contents in the appropriate containers. You may find it helpful to create a storage box labeled miscellaneous for the various odds and ends that you know you will need but that don't seem to match any of containers you've designated for various uses.

7. Store the containers with their labels clearly visible. If you have a book case or shelving unit on which to stack the storage containers you will find it especially helpful in helping you organize your craft supplies in an easily accessible fashion.
