Apply For Designed To Sell

Designed to Sell

Designed to Sell is an HGTV show that helps people get their houses sold. First, a real estate expert comes in & is brutally honest about why the house isn't selling. Then, a design team comes in armed with $2000 & labor to try & fix up several rooms. Many of the homeowners of this show sell their houses over asking price. Here is apply for Designed to Sell.

Instructions

1. Have a house that needs mostly cosmetic work. Designed to Sell can handle complete bathroom & kitchen makeovers on a tiny budget. However, they look for houses that will have dramatic before & after pictures on TV. If your house isn't selling because it has serious structural issues that need to be fixed, your house might not be picked. If it can't be done on their budget & for a dramatic effect it probably isn't right for the show.

2. The basic requirements of Designed to Sell are that you have to have a house for sell in LA or Chicago. These houses should be located within 25 miles of their offices. To look over & fill out the application check out the link in the resource section of this article.

3. Have an emotional attachment to your house. A good story makes for good TV & a good application. If you are in a real estate bind & balancing two mortgages, then tell the Designed to Sell team.

4. To be on Designed to Sell you will need to have some diy skills. They even ask on the application what capabilities you have. Yes, you get free labor, but you have to help during the process.

5. You might need to spend money to get your house sold. Designed to sell can only spend 2000 & labor. Sometimes the homeowners offer to replace ugly carpet or even buy new stainless appliances for the kitchen for a more dramatic effect.

6. Be prepared to spend some time living in a renovation. The shooting process takes 3-4 weeks. On Designed to Sell they say that they only have a few work days. There will generally be 6 shoot days. However, they also have a day to have a real estate agent in your house & they probably have a separate day for the open house, let alone all of the behind the scenes stuff. The days probably won't be consecutive so you might have to live in a mess for awhile.

7. Get ready to work. Yes, you will have a team of designers, carpenters & an eager host in your home. However, you will be assigned homework assignments between shoots that the camera won't even see.

8. Be open about your open house. The show will probably schedule the date for your open house depending on when they can shoot, not when is best for you.
