Cover up clothing easily by creating a door for your wardrobe.
Wardrobes are great for storing clothes that do not fit in your closet or dresser. The height of a wardrobe makes it simple to hang clothing inside, allowing you to store items without causing them to wrinkle. Because they are portable, wardrobes can be moved from one room to another relatively easily. They are particularly helpful for storage in small studio apartments or homes with little closet space. Instructions
1. Measure the height and width of the wardrobe opening. Subtract 1/4 inch from the width measurement and divide that result in half to determine the width of each door.
2. Cut two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood to the height of the wardrobe opening and the width you computed for the doors.
3. Place the sections on a flat surface side-by-side, as they will be when they are attached to the wardrobe. On the outside edge of each door, measure and mark 6 inches from the top and bottom. Use a power screwdriver to attach a hinge at each marked location.
4. Attach the doors to the wardrobe by placing them over the opening and attaching the door hinges to the outer edges of the wardrobe. Open and close the doors to ensure they are level.
5. Measure to find the center on the opening edges of the doors. Measure and mark 1 inch in from that center point on the edge of each door. Install the door handles at the marked locations.
6. Open the left-side door. Using a tape measure and a pencil, mark a light horizontal line across the door, 6 inches down from the top. Divide the length of the horizontal line by four, measure and mark the quarter-marks along the line, using the tape measure.
7. Screw in a coat hook at each marked point. The small coat hooks can be used to hang belts, necklaces, bracelets or any other items. Attach coat hooks in the same way on the opposite door.
8. Paint or stain your new doors to match the wardrobe.
