Revamp your clothing space in just a single afternoon.
Adding a walk-in closet to your room doesn't have to be a large construction project--you can create your own space even with minimal remodeling skills. Setting up this additional area can be done as easily as shifting some furniture and installing a shelving unit. You can complete the project on your own or with a friend in less than a day. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Measure the area in the corner of your room that you would like to devote to your new walk-in closet. With graph paper, redraw the area, using each cube to represent one square foot. This will help you to account for the length and width of a shelving unit, drawer-opening space and an area to walk through.
2. Push a tall and long armoire wardrobe to act as a third wall, with the shelving space facing the interior of your future closet. You will be able to use it as additional clothing storage, while keeping the opposite sides for in-wall shelving and hanging rods. The fourth wall can remain open to use as a doorway.
3. Purchase one to two shelving kits based on the dimensions of your space and install them on the inside of your closet. Shelving kits that include a hanging rod will be the most effective.
4. Dress up your space with lamps, mirrors, chairs and shelving to hold jewelry. Bring your clothing and accessories in and enjoy!
