Build a Craft Storage Center
Crafters all seem to have a problem with keeping their supplies and projects organized. Crafting can take over the whole house. The best way to keep the supplies organized and available is to have a designated area that can be used as a craft storage center. Designing and putting together this storage center can be a fun project for a crafter.
Instructions
Get Organized
1. Find all of your craft supplies. Dig them out of closest, drawers, boxes and shelves. Make a big pile of craft supplies somewhere with a little bit of space.
2. Split your craft supplies by category - scrap booking, knitting, beading or any other craft you enjoy. Toss what you will not use.
3. Find an area to use as a craft storage center. A closet works best. If it is full of other junk, clean out the area and get it ready for your craft supplies.
Build a craft table into your craft storage center.
4. Measure the inside of your closet space. Buy a piece of solid wood, about an inch thick that is the right dimensions for your closet. Most home improvement stores will cut the wood to your specified size.
5. Attach your wood blocks to the walls of the closet. To choose a height, try measuring your desk or kitchen table. Use a measuring tape and level to be sure that each block is the same height.
6. Place your table top on the wood blocks. You can use one screw to attach the table to each block.
Putting It All Together
7. Look at your piles of different crafting supplies and make a list of what types of storage you need so you don't forget when you are at the store.
8. Shop for buckets, tubs, baskets and other organizational tools.
9. Install pre-made closet shelving according to manufacturer's instructions, if necessary. Since you are using a closet, there might already be plenty of shelving for your supplies.
10. Label all of your buckets and tubs so that you can easily find what you are looking for when you are doing a craft project.
11. Put away all your newly organized crafting supplies in your craft storage center.
