Instead of having a dresser or chest of drawers, use shelving to store clothing. If you are able to remodel your walls, consider building the shelves into the actual walls. Books

Entertainment
Recessed shelves are also useful for entertainment and ideal for placement of a flat-screen television. When choosing the place to hang your television, make sure that this is where you want the television permanently. Carve the shelves around the television to hold the DVD player; cable or satellite box; DVDs; and speakers. This area can also be designed in an abstract manner with the shelves sporadically placed in the wall.
