The Kingwin EZ-Connect adapter allows you to connect virtually any IDE or SATA hard drive to a USB port on your computer. Using an EZ-Connect, there is no need for an external enclosure when connecting 2.5-inch laptop drives or full-sized desktop drives to your computer. This allows you to change drives connected to your system quickly and also resolves heat issues sometimes caused by small enclosures that restrict airflow. The Kingwin EZ-Connect is compatible with virtually all EIDE, IDE and SATA hard drives and installs within minutes.
Instructions
3.5-Inch EIDE/IDE Desktop Drives
1. Connect the large 40-pin connector on the EZ-Connect to the data pins on the rear of the hard drive. Connect the four-pin power connector from the EZ-connect to the power pins on the right side of the rear face of the hard drive.
2. Connect the EZ-Connects AC power adapter to the four-pin power cable attached to the hard drive. Plug the AD adapter plug into an available electrical socket.
3. Connect the USB cable that leads from the EZ-Connect to an empty USB port on the computer. Windows detects the connection and configures the EIDE/IDE drive as a standard removable storage device. Access the drive in Windows Explorer just as you would any other local or USB hard drive.
2.5-Inch EIDE/IDE Laptop Drives
4. Connect the 44-pin side of the IDE connector to the data pins on the laptop hard drive.
5. Connect the EZ-Connect USB cable to the computer. Windows detects and configures the drive automatically.
6. Close the "New Hardware" found pop-up box when prompted. Open the drive in Windows Explorer to view its contents.
SATA Hard Drives
7. Connect the SATA adapter cable to the large, flat slot on the end of the EZ-Connect.
8. Connect the data cable to the 1-inch slot on the rear of the SATA drive. Connect the SATA power cable to the half-inch slot.
9. Plug the EZ-Connect USB cable into a free port on the PC. Wait a few seconds while Windows detects and configures the hard drive for use.
