Decorate A Closet With A Murphy Bed In It

A Murphy bed folds out from the wall for sleeping but otherwise remains hidden inside a closet or recessed wall space. Murphy beds are optimal for small apartments where a bed would take up most of the floor space, and some come with special shelving and other attached features. Rather than leaving the closet wall space bare when the bed is in use, use different methods to create interesting designs or hang favorite photos. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Hang a large, framed picture or photo in the back of the closet, which is visible once the Murphy bed is brought down. Use thinner frames, such as poster frames, if possible to avoid chunky frames hitting the bed when not in use. Create a collage of pictures within the frame, use one large image only, or go another route by using multiple smaller frames to hang assorted favorite pictures and prints.

2. Paint the closet back if you would prefer not to hang photos and pictures. Create a mural or patterns and designs, such as a beach mural or floral images in assorted patterns. Use as many paint colors as desired, including glossy, matte and glitter finishes. Keep the bed down for at least a day to allow the paint the dry and to avoid a paint-splattered bed. You can also opt to extend the mural or design to the sides of the closet.

3. Use the closet space to house paper collections, which you can house in poster frames or attach them to the wall with tape or all-purpose adhesive. Fill the space with concert and sporting event ticket stubs, postcards, theatrical performance programs, stamp collections, magazine covers, book covers or any other paper collection you would care to display.
