Closets with limited space can still be highly functional.
Closets can serve as the main source of storage for your household items. If you have a closet in your home that is not particularly roomy, there are a few things you can do to maximize the space to provide storage and contain clutter. Does this Spark an idea?
Determine Your Purpose
If you have several closets, assign a specific purpose to each. For instance, the small closet in the foyer or hallway should be devoted to housing guests' jackets and scarves when they come to visit, and the closet closest to the bathroom(s) should serve as the storage area for washcloths and towels. Hall closets near bedrooms are good for storing bed linens. Closets that are small and slim are great for storing long coats and dresses. Closets that are small, yet wide, are good for storing boxes.
Accessories That Organize
Boxes, bins, and baskets neatly contain items such as belts and purses, while lending a touch of style. Use clear bins if you prefer to see what is contained. Stack your storage containers on shelves, or stack them on the floor if necessary.
Rolling Clothes Racks
Walk-in closets can often accommodate a rolling clothing rack to provide a second rod for hanging clothes. The rack can be rolled into your room to clear space to access the fixed rack within the closet.
