Install A Masonite Bifold

Installing a new closet door in a room is an ideal way to update the look and feel of the room without doing any major reconstruction. The Masonite company makes many different models of interior items including a line of doors called the Bifold. These doors can be installed in the outside of a large closet and give you the ability to slid the doors open to gain access. You will need a few tools to complete this project. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the exact height and width of the opening of your closet. Use the saw to cut the track for the door down to 1/8 inch less than the width of the opening. Place the track with the pivot point located on the side of the opening you want to open the door toward and use the drill and the provided screws to attach the track to the top of the opening.

2. Gently insert the pivots into the holes at the top and bottom of the door. These pivots will allow the doors to move through the tracks. Place the jamb bracket on the floor and line it up so the hole in the bracket is directly under the hole in the pivot bracket in the track above. Use the drill and provided screws to attach the jamb to the opening.

3. Install the door by sliding the pivot point on the far side into the opening in the pivot bracket in the track. Lift up the door and insert the bottom pivot point into the opening on the jamb bracket you just installed.

4. Insert the snugger guide into the track by pushing down on the guide pivot and sliding it into place. Lift the door from the bottom pivot hole and rotate the pivot point right to decrease height or left to increase it until it is the proper height, then reinsert the door into the brackets.

5. Use the screwdriver to loosen the screw in the top pivot bracket and slide it until the door is level. Tighten the screw to secure the bracket in its current position. Use the drill to make a hole for the pull in the center of the door on the opposite side of the brackets and insert the pull into the hole.
