When you keep your computer in an enclosed cabinet, you increase its potential to overheat. Computer components must be kept at a cool temperature in order to avoid malfunction. If one of the components fails, it can prove costly to repair. Instead, you can make some small adjustments in order to keep your computer inside of the cabinet at a cool temperature.
Instructions
1. Check the built-in fan inside of your computer. You should hear a fan running from time to time when your computer is in use. If this fan fails to run, you need to contact a computer repair specialist. Malfunctioning fans can lead to overheating.
2. Use a can of compressed air to clean the computer's fan. Build up of dust and debris can cause the computer fan to stop running efficiently. Remove these by blowing compressed air directly onto the fan.
3. Make air vents for your computer. A computer has small air vents throughout the body to help keep it cool. If you are able to, consider cutting a small hole in the enclosed cabinet in order to avoid covering up these vents.
4. Regulate the room's temperature. You should never keep a computer in an enclosed cabinet within an overly warm room. Lower the thermostat a couple of degrees in order to keep it cool. Make sure you position your computer away from heat sources like vents and windows that receive direct sunlight.
5. Plan a fan in the room that you are using the computer. You can use a desktop fan and place in nearby the enclosed cabinet that houses the unit.
