Ideas For Storage In A Kids Room

Ideas for Storage in a Kids Room

Your child's room can easily get out of control with all her toys, stuffed animals, clothes and shoes. Storage is a must for any kid's room, not just for the your sanity, but also so that your child can find the toys she want to play with when she wants them. Storage also helps keep toy sets and parts together so that they do not get lost. Does this Spark an idea?

Bins

Two types of storage bins made for kids' rooms are easily found at retailers--open bins and bins that slide into a cubicle. Open bins allow kids to see all the toys that are put away, making it easy for kids to put their toys away and find toys that they want to play with. Bins that slide into a cube have the advantage of hiding the toys, making the room look much tidier and put together. To help kids learn to organize and know where to put their toys away, you can attach pictures to the front of the bins of what toys belong in each bin. Bins are excellent for keeping all those small miscellaneous toys contained and put away.

Cubicles

Open cubicles give kids an easy access toy storage option. Better than just having shelves, toys stored in cubes can be separated into their own cubicle. Similar toys or sets can be put together in a single cube. With the toys being visible and within easy reach, kids will tend to play with these toys much more often. Cubicles work best for favored large toys.

Hanging Storage

Hanging mesh baskets and pocket organizers are efficient space savers. Hung from the ceiling or the back of a door, store items that your child does not tend to play with (or you do not want them to play with) such as stuffed animals or out-of-season shoes. Colorful hanging baskets with characters make an attractive way to store and display the mountains of stuffed animals living in your child's room.

Under the Bed

Store out-of-season clothes, too small clothes you want to save and extra blankets under the bed. You can get bins that have drawers so that you do not have to pull the entire container out to get to the clothes. Since under-the-bed storage containers will be out of sight and rarely used, you do not have to buy something that coordinates with the room's décor. It also does not have to be too durable, hopefully saving you some money.
