Mount Bypass Closet Door Guides In Cement

Bypass closet doors can provide many years of trouble-free operation at one of the most heavily used locations in a home. Their basic functionality depends on smooth operating top rollers and a set of guides that help keep the doors aligned when opening or closing. Frequently, these bottom guides need to be installed where carpeting or vinyl flooring material are over a concrete slab floor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the center of the door opening, and mark it with a pencil. For carpet, use a small piece of masking tape at the center and mark the center line on the tape.

2. With both of the doors positioned to one side against the door jamb, place the guide assembly on the floor under the door bottoms and with the side of the guide flush with the door edges.

3. Use a level to ensure that the doors are hanging plumb, and mark the center of the guide's screw holes on the floor or masking tape. The center line of the guide should match the center line of the door opening.

4. Remove the guide assembly and use an electric drill with a masonry bit to drill the concrete anchor holes aligned with the guide's screw holes marked in Step 3.

5. Insert the concrete anchors in the holes drilled in Step 4. The top of the anchors should fit flush with the top of the concrete slab.

6. Position the guide assembly in place and use a screwdriver to insert the guide's attaching screws into the concrete anchors. Screws should fit snug to guide and guide should be tight to floor.

7. Slide both doors across the opening to ensure full travel and ease of operation.
