In Europe it is common to see dual flush toilets that allow the user to determine how much water should be used to flush; one option for liquids and the other option for solid waste. The Escale Dula Flush toilet from Kohler offers European style in a very compact one piece system. This particular model does not use a typical floor flange; special installations instructions are necessary. The dual flush system is operated by a two-button system with options for a half flush using .8 gallons and a full flush at 1.6 gallons. Use of this product will help a building become LEED Certified under the LEED Green Building Rating System. Color options for this toilet come in white, almond and biscuit and has a toilet bowl height of 15.75 inches.
European Design
The Caroma bathroom product manufacturer carries a range of European designed toilets under the Caravelle brand name. The Caravelle One Piece Round Front Plus has a smooth design and provides optimum performance. The dual flush feature uses .8 gallons for the half flush and 1.6 gallons for the full flush operation. This is a 40 percent water savings over traditional toilets. The bowl height is 14.75 inches high. However, consumers can purchase this with Easy Height design, which is set at 16.5 inches. This height meets the standards for the American Disabilities Act.
Modern Geometric Design
For those looking for modern design, the Reve brand from Kohler has a geometric design with a dual-flush system. A half flush uses .9 gallons and a full flush uses 1.6 gallons. This model comes with the Reve Quiet Close toilet seat and qualifies as a High-Efficient-Toilet. This model can save as much as 16,500 gallons per year as compared to a traditional 3.5 gallon toilet without compromising performance, according to Kohler. The Reve is offered in four colors, white, almond, biscuit and honed-white. This design has a toilet seat height of 16.125 inches or 41 centimeters.
