Build Cube Metal Storage For Kids' Rooms

Children's rooms are typically the one room in the house with the least space and the most clutter. A cubed storage center makes a very handy way of putting a lot of items into a small space, and metal ones are both sturdy and cost-effective.

Most metal cube sets are in 12-by-12-inch pieces. Each piece is added to other pieces to make a cube, and the cubes are added together to make larger shelves. They can be attached either with plastic connectors that come with the set or with wire. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

If You Have Connectors

1. Make sure your child's room is clean and free of clutter. Plan your space and decide how big you want your storage area to be and where you are going to put it.

2. Take two of the metal shelf pieces and put them at a 90 degree angle. Connect them with a connector piece. Add another piece on both sides at a 90 degree angle like you are making a box and fasten them with connectors.

3. Continue adding shelving pieces in box shapes to add cubes to the one you just made, using connectors to fasten each corner.

4. Place the finished unit in the desired area of the room and check for sturdiness before adding any books or toys.

Without Connectors

5. Follow Step 1 as above.

6. Take two of the metal shelf pieces and put them at a 90 degree angle. Attach wire on all sides of the corner so it is completely secure.

7. Now add another piece on both sides at a 90 degree angle like you are making a box and fasten it with more wire. Do this for all corners and place extra pieces of wire wherever you feel necessary.

8. Add more pieces onto your cube until your shelf is as large as you need it to be. When finished, place it in the desired area of room and check for sturdiness before adding any books or toys.
