Small Bathroom Storage Options

Add bathroom storage space.

Having minimal storage in your bathroom is not uncommon. Many household members find themselves searching for places to stash their towels, soap and other everyday bathroom items. If your bathroom is a wee bit smaller than the Taj Mahal or the Grand Canyon and does not contain endless storage space, use a few tips to maximize storage and minimize the lack-of-space blues. Does this Spark an idea?

Vertical Space Use

Store decorative items on shelves.

Invest a few bucks for extra shelving and utilize the little-used small spaces near the ceiling for decorating knick-knacks like bath soaps and scented candles. Place woven baskets containing colorful wash cloths and hand towels on the shelves for decoration. Place a shelf directly over the sink to provide extra storage. If you prefer plants in your bathroom, instead of resting them on the counter top, use the shelf. Removing these little decorative items from the sink counter top gives the bathroom a neater, less cluttered appearance. It's a simple solution to effectively utilize a small area.

Narrow Stands

Narrow vertical stands are designed for smaller spaces. Stands can be placed in corners and add to the decor of the bathroom as well as free up space. Consider placing those items commonly on the counter top like toothpaste, bath tissue and extra hand soaps at the bottom of the stand for a more clutter-free look. Showcase trinkets and other decorative items on the top of the stand.

Add Baskets

Adding baskets not only gives you storage space, but they also add to the decor to a bathroom. If you have space under the sink or any other less-visible area, consider using a larger sized straw basket to hold personal toiletries or extra items like toilet paper and soap. Supplies look much better when stored in one place as opposed to being scattered about the counter top. Place a smaller decorative basket onto the sink's counter top to hold rolled up colorful wash cloths and hand towels.

Cabinet Installation

Use the cabinet to store extra items.

A lesser-used wall space for cabinet installation is directly above the toilet. Many cabinets are as decorative as they are useful. Use ones that are equipped with towel bars for more storage. The surface on top of the cabinet can be used to store extra supplies. If you prefer the look of a de-cluttered counter top, use the inside of the cabinet to store your personal toiletries. Cabinetry options are available in several sizes, shapes and styles. They also come in various price ranges to fit within your budget.
