Organize With Baskets

Organize With Baskets

Organizing with baskets is a versatile and economical solution to household clutter. A wide variety of baskets is readily available from your local import, discount or craft store. Bring order and a sense of style to your home with baskets in every room. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Organize your home office by placing small baskets filled with supplies such as paper clips, staples, pens and pencils on or near your desk for easy access. Use two baskets or more baskets to create an inbox/outbox system for mail. Archive old files in medium, rectangular baskets with lids. Use a large, square basket inverted on its side as a printer stand--the space under the basket can serve as storage for printer paper and other supplies.

2. Control bathroom chaos with baskets. Select a basket finish that coordinates with your cabinetry. Use small, rectangular cloth lined baskets to hold cosmetics, lotions and sprays. Arrange larger matching baskets on shelves or in open cabinets and fill with fluffy, rolled towels to give your bath an instant spa look.

3. Organize your kitchen pantry with baskets. Place boxed or bagged cereals, crackers, cookies and prepared foods in square baskets by category. Items in these baskets are convenient for everyone to see, grab and munch. Add a gourmet touch to your kitchen by placing cooking oils and vinegars in a round or oval basket on the counter.

4. Hide a multitude of sins in the living room with baskets of any size. Small toys, video games, DVDs and remotes can be concealed from view, but remain easily accessible, in baskets placed on a bookshelf or inside an entertainment stand. Choose low, round baskets for magazine storage beside a chair or under the coffee table.

5. Conquer the disarray in your bedroom. Place small items like coins, watches and rings in small baskets on your dresser or nightstand. Find a home for bedside books and magazines in medium size baskets. Use a cylindrical or square basket as temporary storage for clothes headed to the laundry. Low, rectangular baskets fitted with cloth or plastic covers provide under bed storage.

6. Manage the mess in your closet with various sizes of square and rectangular cloth-lined baskets on shelves. Small and medium baskets work for organizing jewelry, scarves, hats, gloves, socks and lingerie. Store seasonal clothing in larger lidded baskets--don't forget to throw in a few blocks of cedar.
