Paint A Bedroom Closet

Painting your closet can help create a nice, clean look in your room.

When you are painting the rooms in your home, you may also want to paint the closets so they will match the rest of the room and present a nice, clean appearance when opened. Painting a closet does not take as long as painting an entire room, but you will need to take some steps to prepare the closet for painting in order to make sure it presents a nice appearance when you are finished. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove all possessions and fixtures from your closet. You will need to take down the clothes bar, shelving and any hooks that you have screwed into the walls.

2. Fill in holes that have been left in the wall with either plaster or a joint setting compound and allow it to dry. When you paint, you will have a clean, flat surface on which to paint.

3. Cover the floors, electrical outlets and anything else you do not want to paint. Protect the floors with an old sheet or a painter's cloth. Tape off trim and baseboards you do not intend to paint and cover electrical outlets with painter's tape or masking tape.

4. Open your can of paint and stir it so the color is properly mixed. Pour paint into the paint tray and use the paint roller to paint as much of the flat surfaces of the closet walls as possible. Use the paint brush to paint areas that you cannot paint properly with the roller, such as corners and other tight spaces. Paint the entire closet. Add second coat if desired.

5. Allow paint to dry. The length of time it will take depends on the type of paint you are using and how many coats of paint you used. Remove the protective sheet and tape. Re-attach your fixtures to the walls as desired.
