Adjust A California Closet Shelf

California Closets shelving is easy to customize.

Custom closet systems like those manufactured by California Closets offer solutions for almost any storage need. These modular units are relatively easy to install and modify. The backs of the components hang from metal rails attached to the rear closet wall. For shelving units, vertical supports attach to adjustable suspension brackets that hang from the rails. The shelving boards sit on pegs inserted into holes in the inside faces of the vertical supports. Cam-locks that tighten around the pegs hold the shelf boards securely in place. Adjusting a California Closet shelf requires moving the vertical support or the shelving pegs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Loosen the cam-lock screws in all four corners of the underside of each shelf that needs to be adjusted. If vertical support needs adjusting, loosen cam-lock screws for all shelves that attach to it.

2. Lift shelf boards straight up until they clear the support pegs, and remove from closet.

3. Adjust vertical shelving support board by loosening screws in the suspension bracket at the top rear corner of the board.

4. Move the vertical support until it's straight and plumb. Secure it by re-tightening suspension-bracket screws.

5. Adjust shelf height by moving support pegs up or down along the vertical support. Use pliers, if necessary, to remove overly tight pegs from their holes.

6. Replace shelves. Tighten cam-lock screws around pegs.
